How to Make Children Like to Read
It’s easier for kids to build reading skills when they enjoy reading. They practice more, and they feel more motivated to take on reading challenges. Try these tips to encourage your child to read and hopefully build a love of reading. Ten ways to make your child enjoy reading:
Make a list of books you can read with your child, and see how much they read. Whether it's two pages or 200 pages, keep track of the progress.
Make sure that the children can reach the books in the house easily. If a "Dr Seuss" storybook were closer than a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), then children would be more likely to reach for it than watch a video.
Be an example by reading for yourself. The kids will surely follow suit.
It's not just books that can be read. Just as you love to read magazines, teach your children the same to read whatever they like like comics, even game guides can make them love reading.
Radio isn't the only thing you can listen to. Ask the children to read aloud, so you can listen. So you can know the progress they are making and know the difficulties they may face.

Children learn to read at different speeds. Give them time to read, and there's no need to target per page.
Leave a book beside the children's bed. If you encourage them to read a few minutes each night before going to bed, then they will become diligent in reading books without knowing the time.
