Clothing to Avoid While Working

Many career women do not realize their mistakes in dressing when going to the office for work. Even though it may seem trivial, wearing the wrong clothes can make us forget or cancel a promotion. As reported by Forbes.com, wearing the right clothes to work can lead to success. Here are some clothes to avoid wearing to work:

1. Tops that are too open.

Wearing clothes that are too revealing or too sexy is the most fatal mistake on this list. The reason, research shows women who dress too sexy in a professional environment are usually more often forgotten for promotions. If you want to move forward, forget the boss who is too open.

2. Skirts that are too mini.

Wearing a skirt that is too short gives the impression that you are trying to cover up shortcomings in other areas. Ethicist Barbara Pachter says that the knee is a very visual part. It's easier for other people to focus on your knees than on your face. Save your miniskirt for other occasions and wear a comfortable skirt that doesn't show too much thighs while working.

3. See-through clothing.

Materials that are suitable to be worn in the summer like organza do look cool and beautiful. But under the light of the meeting room, the material will clearly show the shape of the legs and other limbs. The best solution is to use these transparent materials as a camis for the top. If it's a skirt, cover it with leggings.

4. Accessories are too redundant.

On the job site, fewer accessories are better. Jewelry that is used too much actually looks flashy and cheap. But if you still want to wear a necklace that is a little "crowded", choose simple earrings as a partner.

5. Beach-themed clothes.

Examples include bright, vibrant patterns, using "spaghetti" laces, and flip-flops. Nothing makes you look more unprofessional than coming to the office dressed like that. Wearing a cover like a pashmina, blazer or simple cardigan will make the appearance look more professional. Beach-themed clothing should be avoided altogether.

6. Clothes are too loose or too tight

Classic clothing can turn ugly when it's too loose or too tight. Pachter suggests buying clothes that can be remodeled in stores. If the clothes in your closet don't fit because you've gained or lost weight, find a tailor near you. Then adjust the clothes to your current body size. The right clothes can change you from looking untidy to classy.

7. Showing underwear.

Even if your underwear is fine and expensive, there's no reason to flaunt it while you're at work. Many shops, including Victoria's Secret, have trained staff to measure you and help you find the right clothes
